Our gallery concept
We operate rotating and temporary exhibitions, termed as our travelling gallery. We curate exhibitions that we install in everyday spaces where people live, work and unwind.
Storytelling is at the core of this enterprise.
We believe that stories should not only exist in dedicated spaces separated from the everyday lives of people, but should be embedded in the spaces where people spend their lives so that we may engage with them easily and they can influence our daily lives.
We aim to create an engaging and ever-evolving art experience, transforming everyday spaces into vibrant reflections of multiculturalism, influencing positive behaviours, emotions, and overall well-being through the power of art.

Derived from the Shona language, "Mavambo" means the beginning. This exhibition was iZWi’s first institutional collaboration carried out with the Markeaton Street Gallery of the Derby Galleries Network. This exhibition celebrated Black History Month and marked the commencement of a vibrant exploration into the rich and multifaceted expressions of artists from Africa and its global diaspora.
This exhibition was accompanied bu curatorial tours open to the community of Derby and beyond as well as a panel event where we explored themes of diversity, identity, inclusion, menta; health and expression. Featured artists were; Bigey Rihanata (BF), Bokani Tshidzu (ZW), Mudiwa Marasa (ZW), Natasha Kudita (ZW), Nene Mahlangu (SA), Progress Nyandoro (ZW), Sisqo Ndombe (CD), Tamary Kudita (ZW) and Yasser Claud-Ennin (NG).
Across various mediums, styles, and thematic journeys, these artists embodied the very essence of contemporary African artistic expression, acting as skilled navigators who crafted and painted a vivid canvas depicting the multifaceted African experience.
Izwi opened its doors with an an inaugural exhibition aptly titled “ iZWi Presents” at the Cleaver & Wake in Nottingham. The exhibition was curated by Naomi Edobor (guest curator) and Rutendo Ngwena (founder of iZWi Art) and featured eight artists of African descent; Bigey Rihanata (BF), Bokani Tshidzu (ZW), Mudiwa Marasa (ZW), Nene Mahlangu (SA), Nthabiseng Boledi Kekana (SA), Progress Nyandoro (ZW), Sisqo Ndombe (CM) and Yasser Claud-Ennin (NG).
The theme of this exhibition was celebrating the excellence of African Artistry. It was our debut show to introduce Izwi.
